Tábor – destination for your holiday
This is the name of a new leaflet which offers a programme for all visitors for a week-long holiday in this South-Bohemian town. This new product, which was prepared by the local Tourist Information Centre, offers options for an active holiday – a bike trip along a recommended route, visits to monuments, a hiking trip along an educational path, relaxing by a lake or canoeing down the Lužnice river.
The new information leaflet can be obtained from the Tourist Information Centre, and you will find that you cannot get bored during your holiday in Tábor.

PROGRAMME of a weekly stay full of relaxation and discovering the Tábor Region

Come to visit the historical city of Tabor, which belongs to the tourist attractions of South Bohemia due to its rich history and lots of architectural sights. Tabor is tied up with an important chapter of the European history - the Hussite Movement. In the year 1420 Hussite followers founded a fortified military settlement from which they waged their campaigns. For centuries Tabor has gone through a lot of changes, however, it has preserved its medieval features right up to now. When visiting Tabor, you can experience a journey back to the past since there is a unique system of medieval fortification, a complex labyrinth of underground passages and the original castle called Kotnov. The rolling area around Tabor offers you an ideal place for your holiday where you can see a lot of hot sights such as castles, chateaux, natural places of interest and technical monuments. The marshland called Blata with its typical South Bohemian folk architecture, lakes and large forests stretching into the south part of the region is also worth seeing. Nature around Tabor offers good conditions for hiking, biking or horseback riding. The LuInice River flowing through the whole of the region is inviting for canoeing, swimming or fishing

• lunch in any of the restaurants in the Old Town 
• in the afternoon - climb the Kotnov Castle Tower, exhibition inside
  the Bechyně Gate called Life and work in the medieval times
• visit to the Pilgrimage Church in Klokoty or resting in the Botanical
  Garden
• dinner in any of the restaurants in the historical core

Sunday
A trip to the Chýnov Cave and Kozi Hradek Ruin

• by car (or by train or on foot) to the Chýnov Cave
• lunch in Chýnov
• visit to the Art Nouveau sculptor Franitišek Bilek’s studio in Chýnov
• on the way back - stop at Kozi Hradek where Jan Hus lived and
  worked in the 15th century
• dinner in Tabor in the New Town
  

Monday
Tabor Region on a bike - all-day trip

• you do not need to take your own bicycle for your holiday in order to
  discover the Tabor Region from the bike-seat! Even in Tabor you can rent
  a bicycle in one of our rental bike shops. In the region there are 400
  kilometers of marked cycling trails which can take you to interesting
  places
• lunch in a restaurant on the way
• dinner in any of the restaurants in Tabor
• evening at the bowling, ricochet, sauna etc.

Tuesday
A day to relax outdoors

You can rest by the waterside or just outdoors. 

• Warm weather schedule: Swimming by the Jordan Dam 
  
  • you can spend all day long swimming and relaxing by the Jordan Dam
    with a toboggan slide and grassy beach, or in the Aquapark with an
    outdoor swimming pool and water attractions in Tabor
  • you can have your lunch delivered to the beach (pizzaor have it in a restaurant in the New or Old Town
  • in the afternoon you can go playing tennis to tennis courts below the
    Jordan Dam, on the way there, do not miss the Jordan Waterfalls 
• Cold Weather Schedule: Discover folk architecture and Borkovice Marshland
  • discover the Blata area full of exceptional folk architecture (west of
    Soběslav)
  • typical buildings of South Bohemian folk baroque are in the villages
    of Zaluži, Vlastiboř, Komárov, Klečaty, Zálši and Mašice
  • visit the open-air museum in Zaluží u Vlastiboře to see the rustic living
    room, blacksmith’s shop and a collection of wooden marionettes
  • lunch in Drachov in the restaurant Penzion ve Mlejně
  • in the afternoon a walk through the Borkovice Marshland to see the
    history of peat mining, and places of interest in this protected area
  • dinner in any of the restaurants in Tabor
    

Wednesday
Through the valley of the Lužnice on foot or by water

• The beautiful rocky and wooded valley of the River Lužnice can be
  explored from the canoe, or on foot
• canoe and other necessary gear is available at the rental place in
  Tabor - in the Intersport. From here you can
  canoe to the ruins of Dobronice Castle (20 km) and then back to Tabor
  the canoes and the equipment will be taken by the personnel of the
  Intersport.
• If you decide to walk through the River Lužnice valley, we recommend
  a walk from Tabor to the ruins of Pfiibunice Castle (12,5 km) along the
  Pfiíbűnická trail which is marked by red signs on the left bank of the
  river to the ruins. Back to Tabor along the trail marked by yellow
  tourist signs (10 km), or along the blue trail to Malšice (6 km) and from
  there back to Tabor by train.
• Whether you walk or canoe, you can refresh yourselves in the
  Harrachovka restaurant, U Fíka, or in Příběnice
  

Thursday
Trip by train to Bechynu Chateau

• by a historic train designed by František Křižík to Bechyně spa
• do not miss Renaissance Chateau Bechyně, Vladimir Preclik’s Museum
  (gallery of statues and paintings), Fire Brigade Museum and Aleš’s
  South Bohemian Gallery (ceramics)
• lunch in a restaurant in Bechyně
• back to Tabor by train
• dinner in the winter garden of the Hotel Laznu or in the restaurant of
  the Hotel Dvofiak in former brewery cellars
  
  

Friday
Shopping and departure

• breakfast in the pension or hotel
• morning shopping in shops in the Old Town (for example PraIska
  Street)
• lunch in any of the restaurants in the Old Town

In the historical centre of the city there are a lot of comfortable restaurants with Czech cuisine. 
The Information Centre will advise and recommend a good restaurant.
