Thanks to its rich history, architectural monuments and attractive countryside location, the town of Tábor is one of the Czech Republic´s most favourite tourist spots. Today, Tábor is the second largest town in South Bohemia and has become a major transport, economic, administrative and cultural centre in the region.
Climate
The climate in the Tábor region is central European, where the influence of the ocean to the west alternates with the influence of the continental climate to the east, ensuring that the weather is of a decidedly variable nature. According to the climatic classification of the Czech Republic, the region lies in a warm, slightly humid area, however this is also dependant on elevation above sea level. The average annual temperature is 8°C, with an average July temperature of 16°C and an average January temperature of around –4°C.
Temperatures usually rise above 20°C in June to August, often even rising above 30°C. From December to January you can expect temperatures of around 10°C do –10°C, though frosts of –20°C are not uncommon.
In the winter months, with good snow conditions (15 – 30 cm of snow), the Tábor region offers excellent conditions for cross country skiing.
